  • Can I Sightseek if I'm not online?
Yes, in fact we recommend it (no loss of reception, longer battery life). Just download your quest on WiFi before you set out.
  • What happens if I lose phone service during a quest?
No problem. After you have downloaded the quest to your phone it does not require phone service.
  • Can I Sightseek with friends/family?
Yes. Click on the "share" button on the set-up screen and the user and up to two others can Sightseek together (using their own phones)
  • What happens if my phone battery dies in the middle of a quest?
A fully charged battery is more than sufficient to complete a downloaded quest. Keep in mind that your battery's life does decrease with age.
  • Can I take photos/videos without switching away from the app?
Yes. Select the "photo" function (camera icon, top left) and shoot away (the quest resumes when you click back)
  • What if I get lost or wander from the route?
Quests are guided both by written directions and GPS mapping. If you wander from the route, simply click on the map-marker icon (top left) and follow the written/spoken directions back to the route.
  • How long is a typical quest?
That all depends on you. All Sightseeker quests can be completed in around two hours...if you move fast. But they can also take all day...if you linger over a Best Bite (food recommendation), take a detour (to visit a museum, perhaps), or stop frequently to sit in the sun, people-watch, take photos, or dip into a store. And if you want to stop and resume the quest at a later date, again, no problem. Once you have purchased a quest, it's stored on your phone. That's the beauty of Sightseeking...how you do it (and how fast you do it) is completely up to you.
  • Can I play music while on a quest?
Yes. Just select the "read" function (using the book icon) and the narrative appears on the screen. Silence the audio (speaker icon). Then turn on the tunes.
  • What if the narration is moving faster than I am?
The app is fully customizable. You can let the narration unfold automatically or switch to manual mode using the two-direction arrow icon (top left) and move through the quest at your own pace. Forward/backward controls let you skip ahead or replay screens as needed.
  • "Listen" or "Read": which option is best?"
We recommend you listen to the narration through headphones. That way the photos fill the screen and you can look around. But some people prefer to read instead. If you enter a church, library, or other "quiet" spot, we ask that you silence the audio and read instead. Clicking the "read" button (book icon) opens/closes the text banner. Clicking the "listen" button (speaker icon) turns the audio on/off.
  • What should I do if one of the sights is closed?
Sometimes you will encounter a "closed" sight. A church perhaps that is closed for a service. Or a monument that is closed for an event or refurbishment. Or simply because you are questing after opening hours. While we have made every effort to avoid such circumstances, closings often happen suddenly and are beyond our control. If a sight is closed, we ask that you simply move on to the next one and, if possible, come back at a different time/later date. Remember, once you have downloaded a quest you can access it whenever you want.
